Who’s buying company data: October 2026
· Company Data Advisors
Eight more programs joined our buyer index this month. Their size and history criteria are converging; their terms are not.
Our buyer index now covers seventeen programs from companies that license businesses’ internal records — email, chat, tickets, CRM history, documents and code — to train and test AI. Eight were added this month: Replay, Labelbox Prism, SuperAnnotate, Centific, Appen, Protege’s Hookshot Data, The General Data Company and Collinear AI. Each publishes its program on its own site.
Where the criteria converge
Programs that publish a size floor mostly set it between fifteen and forty employees, and Handshake and Nyne ask for three years in business. Programs that name a geography put the US first and want records mainly in English. A few publish no floor at all: SuperAnnotate says any size, any industry, anywhere.
Where the terms differ
- Exclusivity. Labelbox Prism licenses exclusively by default. SuperAnnotate licenses for a set period to buyers you approve. Replay’s license is perpetual, with a revenue share.
- Handover. Some programs ask you to connect your tools and extract automatically; others export and de-identify the data themselves; several work through read-only connections inside your environment.
- Timing. Labelbox says first call to first wire can take under three weeks; Centific says a first accepted contribution typically takes six to ten weeks.
- Payment. Most pay on acceptance of the data. Some add a revenue share on later licenses; The General Data Company pays by milestone.
Specialists are appearing
Not every buyer wants a general archive. Collinear wants software teams’ private code history, with pull requests tied to tickets. The General Data Company focuses on industrial records, including technical drawings and CAD. Protege’s current focus is IT service-desk tickets. SuperAnnotate is the only program we found that asks for screen recordings of real work.
What this means for an owner
Our view: a company that fits one program usually fits several, and the differences that matter most — exclusivity, how long the license runs, who extracts the data and when you are paid — sit in the contract, not the headline. Compare at least two programs before you sign anything.
